Description
This icon is of exceptional detail and art. Twelve rays proceed from a disc towards the heads of the Apostles who are seated in a semi-cycle. In the middle the allegory of a crowned man, the World is holding a white nap open to show twelve closed scrolls. This icon is found in the nave of the iconostastis in the Katholikon and belongs to the enriched cycle of Dodecaorton. Dimensions 41 x 53 cm. Painted by Joseph Chourri.
Εικόνα εξαιρετικής λεπτομέρειας και τέχνης. Δώδεκα ακτίνες εκπορεύονται απο ένα δίσκο προς τα κεφάλια των Αποστόλων καθημένων σε ημικύκλιο. Στο μέσον η αλληγορία του κόσμου με μορφή γέροντος που φορά βασιλικό διάδημα και κρατά ανοικτό λευκό ύφασμα με δώδεκα κλειστά ειλητάρια. Η εικόνα βρίσκεται στο κεντρικό κλίτος του εικονοστασίου στο Καθολικό και ανήκει στον διευρυμένο κύκλο του Δωδεκάορτου. Διαστάσεις 41 x 53 cm. Έργον Ιωσήφ Χούρρη.
