An oval shaped painting depicting a nun praying. Kounelakis is considered an important Greek painter of the 19th century. His art studies began in Greece and continued in Rome and Florence. He later returned to Italy and met with renowned artists of the time in Rome and Venice before finally settling in Florence where he remained until 1867. After the untimely death of his wife, he was taken ill and moved to Cairo, Egypt, where he died. Kounelakis’s works are rare to find.

« Μοναχή προσευχομένη ». Είναι έργο του καλλιτέχνη Νικόλα Κουνελλάκη, ο οποίος γεννήθηκε στην Κρήτη το 1829 και πέθανε στο Κάιρο το 1869. Θεωρείται ένας από τους σημαντικότερους ΄Ελληνες καλλιτέχνες του 19ου αιώνα. Τα έργα του είναι σπάνια.
