Description
A very rare representation of Virgin Mary participating in the effort to descent the body of Christ from the Cross. Women are watching while Nikodemos and Joseph of Arimathea are helping. This icon is found on the south aisle of the iconostasis in the Katholikon and belongs to the enriched cycle of Dodecaorton. Dimensions 25 x 43 cm. Painted by Joseph Chourri.
Σπάνια παράσταση της Αποκαθήλωσης που παρουσιάζει την Παρθένο Μαρία να υποβοηθά στην κατάβαση του σώματος του Χριστού από το Σταυρό. Συνοδεύεται από γυναίκες, τον Νικόδημο και τον Ιωσήφ από Αριμαθαίας. Η εικόνα αυτή βρίσκεται στο νότιο κλίτος του εικονοστασίου στο Καθολικόν και ανήκει στον διευρυμένο κύκλο του Δωδεκαόρτου.
