Description
Aphrodite was the adopted daughter of Zeus. In Roman, Phoenician and Ar menian mythologies she was Venus, Astarte and Anahid respec tively. In myth she inspired sweet passion in Gods and men beguiling even Zeus to mate with mortal women. Among her notable victims in the myths were Helen, wife of Menelaos for whose sake the Greeks fought at Troy, and Medeia, the enchantress who aided Jason and the Argonauts.
