Description
This photograph shows the western wall of the sanctuary, which constitutes the middle chamber of the Enkleistra. In its southwestern part, three niches hewn in the rock are preserved, bearing painted decoration. The upper niche is decorated with multiple depictions of the Cross of Christ. To the right of the niches are standing figures of saints, while to the left, facing southwards, is the iconostasis.
Η φωτογραφία αυτή παρουσιάζει τον δυτικό τοίχο του ιερού, το οποίο αποτελεί τον μεσαίο θάλαμο της Εγκλείστρας. Στο νοτιοδυτικό του τμήμα διατηρούνται τρεις λαξευμένες στον βράχο κόγχες, οι οποίες φέρουν ζωγραφικό διάκοσμο. Η ανώτερη κόγχη είναι διακοσμημένη με πολλαπλές απεικονίσεις του Σταυρού του Χριστού. Στα δεξιά των κογχών βρίσκονται όρθιες μορφές αγίων, ενώ στα αριστερά, με νότιο προσανατολισμό, βρίσκεται το εικονοστάσιο.
