Κατά την περίοδο του Απελευθερωτικού Αγώνα (1955-1959), ο Λεόντιος Φιλοθέου κατετάγη στην Επικουρική Αστυνομία με σκοπό την απόσπαση πληροφοριών και ενημέρωση της ΕΟΚΑ. Η οργάνωση πρότεινε στον Λεόντιο να ενταχθεί στο συγκεκριμένο σώμα λόγω του γεγονότος ότι γνώριζε σε αρκετά καλό βαθμό την Τουρκική γλώσσα.
During the Greek Cypriot War of Independence (1955-1959), Leontios Filotheou joint the Auxiliary Police force in order to extract information and inform EOKA due to the fact that he knew the Turkish language.
