Description

Carolina Pelendritou was born in August 1986 in Lemesos.She possesses exceptional determination and courage to overcome any disabilities or obstacles in her life. Her eyesight began failing her at an early stage and by 2014 the deterioration had reached 95%. Carolina took up swiming at the age of nine and throughout her career won several gold, silver and bronze medals in world competitions in categories S12 and S13.
In 2004 she achieved her dream by winning her gold medal in The Paralympic Games in Athens where she broke the Paralympic and European record in the 100m breaststroke event.

Carolina did not sit back on her laurels but continued her
career with zest and in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games won her second gold medal and new Paralympic and world records. She never stopped training and by 2010 was the world record holder in the 50m,100m,and 200m breaststroke category S12, and having acquired eight gold medals in all competitions.
