The first air connection of Cyprus with the outside world was made from Limassol, on April 19th, 1932, with an aeroplane of the Imperial Airways. It was a 15-seat hydroplane of the Scipio class with a four-man crew including a caterer responsible for providing food and drinks during the flight. The flight originated in England and approached Limassol for the first time on the mall opposite the Continental Hotel.

Η πρώτη αεροπορική σύνδεση της Κύπρου με τον έξω κόσμο έγινε από την Λεμεσό. Στις 19 Απριλίου του 1932, προσγειώθηκε το αεροπλάνο της Βρετανικής Αυτοκρατορικής Αεροπλοϊας. Επρόκειτο για ένα δεκαπενταθέσιο υδροπλάνο της τάξεως Σκιπίωνοςο με τέσσερα άτομα πλήρωμα περιλαμβάνων τροφοδότην δυνάμενον ν Πρέχη τροφήν και ποτά λατά τον πλουν. Προέρχετο εξ Αγγλίας και προσέγγιζε για πρώτη φορά στη Λεμεσό στο μώλο απέναντι από το ξεονοδοχείο Κοντινένταλ.
