Palace of Vouni (Cyprus--Limassol)

At the top of the Vouni hill, a large palatial complex was excavated in 1928 – 1929. Four construction phases are represented in the palatial complex, corresponding to teo periods of the Cypro-Classical years (from the early to the mid-5th century B.C. and from 450 to 380 B.C. respectively). The limestone column capital with a representation of the goddess Hathor in relief corroborates the Eastern influence of the first palace’s architectural style.

Στην κορυφή του λόφου του Βουνιού ανασκάφηκε το 1928 – 1929 μεγάλο ανακτορικό σύμπλεγμα. Εντοπίστηκαν τέσσερις συνολικά φάσεις, που εντάσσονται σε δύο περιόδους των Κυπρο-κλασσικών χρόνων (αρχές μέχρι τα μέσα του 5ου αιώνα π.Χ. και από το 450 μέχρι του 380 π.Χ. αντίστοιχα. Το ασβεστολιθικό επίκρανο κίονος με ανάγλυφη παράσταση της θεάς Άθωρ, επιβεβαιώνει τον ανατολικό αρχιτεκτονικό τύπο του πρώτου ανακτόρου.
