Description
Joachim is sitting alone and praying in the wilderness of a mountain. He supports his head with his left hand. An angel approaches and announces to him that soon God will bless them with a child. It is a wall - painting of the vault of the south aisle of the Katholikon, decorated with the Cycle of the Life of the Virgin Mary.
Ο Ιωακείμ κάθεται λυπημένος σε όρος απόκρημνο. Στηρίζει τη κεφαλή με το αριστερό του χέρι και προσεύχεται στο Θεό. Τον πλησιάζει ένας άγγελος με λεπτή ράβδο, για να του αναγγείλει πως σύντομα ο Θεός θα τους ευλογήσει με την απόκτηση παιδιού. Η τοιχογραφία βρίσκεται στην καμάρα του νοτίου κλίτους του Καθολικου, η οποία ήταν διακοσμημένη με τον Θεομητορικό κύκλο.
