Description

To a questionnaire put to the refugees and conducted by Nadia Theodorou, regarding entertainment in general before and after the invasion, and their wishes, they gave, in many instances, more than one answer as follows:
Entertainment Before After Wishes
Television 18.4 10.4 13.9
Theater, cinema 33.3 5.0 15.1
Amusement places 50.2 4.5 22.4
Excursions 38.0 5.7 22.2
Football 4.2 1.5 2.2
Cafes, cake shops 2.5 1.4 1.4
Village coffee shops 9.6 7.9 4.3
Sports 18.3 3.0 9.0
Music, reading 4.4 2.9 3.4
Needlework 3.5 2.4 1.1
Visitations 11.7 5.2 6.1
Nothing 9.5 63.1 41.1
Total 203.6 113.0 142.2

From the 9.5% who expressed no entertainment whatsoever prior to the invasion, the figure rose to over 63% after the invasion. And even when the ability existed either economically or otherwise, again more than 41% expressed no desire for entertainment. The lack of a spiritual mood, the intense presence of weariness and boredom create consequences not only to other members of the family but also to society in general.
