Description
Since its establishment the Department of Maritime Shipping has been strengthened by a pool of highly educated professionals and other personnel thus enabling it to open offices in Piraeus, Rotterdam, Hamburg, London and New York for more efficient under taking of its obligations regarding the control and implementation of shipping regulations. Many well known maritime and shipping companies have found Cyprus an ideal center to set up operations. Some important factors that contributed to the success of Cyprus as a center for international maritime business are: its strategic location at the crossroads of three continents, an English based legal system (up - dated to comply with EU regulations), an efficient civil service, a professional sector, various tax incentives and good labor relations combined with a low cost of living and a relaxed, pleasant way of life.
