Description
The Cyprus wheatear and the Cyprus warbler (see the 20 m. stamp of 1969, birds of Cyprus) are two of many species of migratory birds that flock to Cyprus in their millions at springtime, making Cyprus their ideal stopover. Both are endemic to Cyprus and breed nowhere else. The wheatear breeds almost ever y where on the island and is easily spotted by bird watchers. The birds arrive towards he end of February and leave early in November flying south to Africa where they spend winter. During late summer the wheatear moves to higher elevations and loses its breeding colors. (see 7c. stamp)
