Dublin Core

Title

Flamingos and Nose of Airliner Boeing 737 Airliner in Flight and Flamingos, EUROPA Issue Transport and Communications, Republic of Cyprus

Description

Year after year they fly thousands of miles without refueling until they alight at the Larnaca salt lakehaving missed the international airport. They are our winged travellers the flamingos whose arrival during the winter season is always considered a good omen, that all is well. These tall, long-necked, web-footed birds with pink, scarlet and black plumage make a beautiful and reassuring sight of tranquility as they stand on one leg with their heads drooping, their beaks immersed in the salty waters. They are not the only migratory birds that frequent the salt lake, various species of ducks and other waterfowl join them, but it is the flamingos that attract all the attention.
