The Madonna, Mother of God, Mistress of Angels, a fresco from the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour at Palechori, dates from the 2nd decade of the 16th century. Here the Madonna with hands raised in supplication is, according to Byzantine church tradition mediating between mankind and Christ.
