Description
Archangel Michael. The 15m. stamp is an icon representing the Great Deesis in the uppermost zone of the iconostasis. The icons is dated to the year 1544 and attributed to the hand of Joseph Houris. They remind one of the Palaeologue style and iconography but are related to the so-called Cretan school of the 16th century. (Extract from: The Painted Churches of Cyprus, 2nd edition p.381)
