Description

In 45 A.D. the Apostles Barnabas and Paul arrived in Cyprus to preach Christianity. They succeeded in converting the Roman Proconsul Sergius Paulus at Paphos, thus making Cyprus the first country to be governed by a Christian. St. Barnabas was the founder of the Church of Cyprus, which at the 3rd Ecumenical Council of Antioch 431 A.D. was recognized as autocephalous
