Title
Doves, EUROPA Issue, Republic of Cyprus
Description
In the past Europe experienced great tribulations from the many attempts made to unify it into a single entity. The endeavours were the result of armed undertakings either by a single individual such as Napoleon or by alliances such as those in the two world wars, all of which ended in failure. After the 2nd World War leaders of Western Europe realized that their vision of a United Europe could only be achieved by peaceful means and by the alignment of their economic differences and the convergence of their economies that were the only significant differences between their countries.
The expansion Eastward could come about when the Eastern European Countries had established democratic institutions. This took a long time to materialize since all the measures had to be taken gradually to ensure stability
