Saint Neophytos is depicted standing, frontal, with his hands crossed over his chest, dressed in monastic garments, which are rendered in natural tones, as the fabrics from which they were made retained their natural texture.
The saint is flanked by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, who hold him by the shoulders. The Archangels each carry a staff and stand upon suppedanea. They are depicted with open wings, which cross behind the saint’s back, creating, in a sense, the impression that he himself is winged.
This scene, located on the western vertical wall above the Holy Altar, is oriented eastwards and faces the depiction of the Ascension of Christ.
The sanctuary of the cave was carved in 1159 and it was painted in 1183.

Ο Άγιος Νεόφυτος παρουσιάζεται όρθιος, μετωπικός, με τα χέρια σταυρωμένα στο στήθος, ντυμένος με μοναστικά ενδύματα, τα οποία αποδίδονται με φυσικές αποχρώσεις, καθώς τα υφάσματα από τα οποία ήταν φτιαγμένα διατηρούσαν τη φυσική τους υφή.
Τον Άγιο πλαισιώνουν οι Αρχάγγελοι Μιχαήλ και Γαβριήλ, οι οποίοι τον κρατούν από τους ώμους. Οι Αρχάγγελοι φέρουν από ένα ραβδί και πατούν πάνω σε υποπόδια. Αποδίδονται με ανοιχτά φτερά, τα οποία διασταυρώνονται πίσω από την πλάτη του Αγίου, δημιουργώντας, κατά κάποιον τρόπο, την εντύπωση ότι και ο ίδιος είναι φτερωτός.
Η σκηνή αυτή, η οποία βρίσκεται στον δυτικό κατακόρυφο τοίχο πάνω από την Αγία Τράπεζα, είναι προσανατολισμένη προς ανατολάς και βρίσκεται απέναντι από την παράσταση της Ανάληψης του Χριστού.
Το ιερό της σπηλιάς λαξεύθηκε το 1159 και ζωγραφίστηκε το 1183.
