Description

Statuette of white limestone depicting Zeus Ammon (or Zeus-Ammon) sitting in a chair with high back. He is resting his arms on the armrests. A pair of ram's horns, typical of his depictions, are visible on his head. As a deity, Zeus Ammon was a Greek syncretism between Zeus and the Egyptian Amun-Ra, whose symbols include the criosphinx (a sphinx with the head of a ram).

Within the framework of collaboration between Världskulturmuseerna and the UNESCO Chair on Digital Cultural Heritage at Cyprus University of Technology, the digitization of a substantial portion of the Cypriot collection at Stockholm's Medelhavsmuseet Museum has been accomplished.
