Description

For the eighth consecutive year, Member States of the Postal Union for the Mediterranean "Euromed Postal" issue a stamp with a common theme. This year's theme is " Handicraft Jewelry in the Mediterranean”".
The Cyprus stamp illustrates a gold pendant from the 14th-13th cent. B.C. It was found during excavations at Engomi and is now in the Archeological Museum in Cyprus. A similar pendant from excavations at Enkomi is in the British Museum.
The design is that of a hollow pomegranate with a ring at the top for suspension. The whole surface is covered with twelve horizontal rows of small granulated triangles.
