Water
Description
"Water is one of the most precious commodities on our planet and a major heritage of every generation. Changes in the frequency of rainfall and extreme temperatures are expected to affect the availability and quality of water resources. The rational management, the appropriate use and qualitative upgrading of water is everyone’s responsibility.
In dry and semi-arid regions of our planet, as in Cyprus, water supply is a constant problem. The construction of water reservoirs was necessary in order to allow the timeless, as well as geographical use of water.
The two largest water reservoirs in Cyprus are Kouri and Asprokremmos with a capacity of 115 and 52,375 million cubic meters respectively. The water of the two reservoirs is used for irrigation and water supply purposes. "
