1st April 2015, marks the 60th Anniversary of the commencement of the EOKA struggle for the liberation of Cyprus and its Union with Greece which finally led to the creation of the Republic of Cyprus. During a period of four years, the people of Cyprus with their youth, who are depicted on this honorary issue, in the forefront, fought with courage, determination and heroism. Neither the superior forces of the Great Britain, nor their hangings nor the inhumane tortures they inflicted on them managed to break their combative spirit, or the ardent determination of a great people.
This issue is meant to honour the struggle of the EOKA fighters who opened the way to freedom and justice.
