The wine producing village of Omodos, built on theTroodos hillsides amidst expanses of vines, with its narrow cobbled streets and the majestic monastery in the village square, is one of the most picturesque villages in Cyprus.
Omodos was once the property of Sir John de Brie, Prince of Galilee, as was the Monastery of Stavros (Holy Cross), in the centre of the village. The monastery contains old icons, excellent wood carvings and other ecclesiastical objects of interest, as well as a small museum of the
national Liberation Struggle of 1955-59. An old wine-press known as Linos is a short distance from the Monastery and is open to visitors.

Το οινοπαραγωγικό χωριό Όμοδος, κτισμένο ανάμεσα σε εκτάσεις αμπελιών στα βουνά του Τροόδους, με τα μικρά πλακόστρωτα δρομάκια και το επιβλητικό μοναστήρι στην πλατεία του χωριού, είναι ένα από τα πιο γραφικά χωριά της Κύπρου.
Το Όμοδος, ήταν κάποτε ιδιοκτησία του Sir John de Brie, Πρίγκηπα της Γαλιλαίας, όπως ήταν και το Μοναστήρι του Σταυρού που βρίσκεται στο κέντρο του χωριού. Στο μοναστήρι υπάρχουν παλιές εικόνες, εξαιρετικά ξυλόγλυπτα και άλλα εκκλησιαστικά σκεύη, καθώς και ένα μικρό μουσείο για τον εθνικό απελευθερωτικό αγώνα 1955-59. Σε μικρή απόσταση από το μοναστήρι βρίσκεται ένα μικρό αναπαλαιωμένο πατητήρι, γνωστό με το όνομα Ληνός, το οποίο και είναι επισκέψιμο.
