Dublin Core

Title

Chalcedony, Minerals of Cyprus Thematic Issue, Republic of Cyprus

Description

Chalcedony is a finer- grained variety of quartz, which may vary in color from light brown to reddish brown; the latter is better known as carnelian. Moss agate is gray or bluish chalcedony with dark dentritic inclusions of ten of an iron compound. Quartz, which may be cleaned in warm hydrochloric acid, is one of the most commonly occurring minerals, which crystallize, in the hexagonal system. A very well known quartz is the amethyst, a semi-precious stone used extensively in jewellery.
