Description
In January 1990, a Service for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Disabled was established in the Department of Labour. Its main objectives were to deal with the various issues concerning disabled persons and disabilities and to promote the equalization of the rights and opportunities of these people for their full participation in the economic and social life of the country. It provides guidance, vocational training or re-training, placement in employment, financial assistance for the acquisition of technical aids and equipment, financial support to Organizations for the Disabled etc., and coordinates and promotes various activities to ensure that disabled persons are able to fully participate in society as a whole.
