Dublin Core

Title

The Three Wise Men, 20th Anniversary of UNESCO, Republic of Cyprus

Description

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on 16th November 1945. In its ambitious goal to build peace in the minds of men, it did not consider it enough to build classrooms in devastated countries. Education, Culture, Communication and the Social and Natural Sciences were far more important in achieving its goal.
UNESCO promotes international cooperation among its 190 member States and Associated Members in all the above fields and disseminates and shares information and knowledge while helping member States to build their human and institutional capacities in diverse fields.
UNESCO works to create the condition for true dialogue based upon the respect for commonly shared values and the dignity of each civilization and culture. Global visions of sustainable development based upon observance of human rights, mutual respect and the alleviation of poverty, lie at the heart of UNESCO’s mission and activities.
