Dublin Core

Title

U.I.T. Emblem, International Telecommunications Union Centenary Issue, Republic of Cyprus

Description

The earliest forms of long distance communications without resorting to human messengers must have been the ""smoke signals"" of the American Indians and the ""talking drums"" of the African people. Mankind has come a long way since then. In our highly advanced and continually changing technological world, telecommunications, in an era of information and knowledge-oriented society, have become crucial for the success and competitiveness of any country's economy. The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) being fully aware of its role has been continuously expanding and improving all its services with a strong determination to continue implementing state-of-the-art technology including mobile telephony, internet access, digital TV etc. Its aim is to become a global competitive entity. Cyprus is a member of the International Telecommunication Union. U.I.T. are the French Initials.
