The purpose of this project is to help bring some order to the sometimes - chaotic world
of placing and receiving calls with Netmeeting. All too often Netmeeters find themselves
receiving calls they don't want and placing calls to people who are not what they expect
them to be. The goal of this project is to help fellow Netmeeters find what they are
looking for, be it family, friends, or conversation.
Microsoft's Netmeeting integrates audio, data and videoconferencing into one package.
Its data - conferencing features let you draw on a shared whiteboard, send text
messages, transfer files and collaborate in real with multiple people within any
Windows application. Netmeeting real- time audio features let you talk to other people
over the Internet. Version 3.01 offers many new features and enhancements. The program
now has a Web-based Internet directory, and a smaller, task - based user that can be
embedded in a Web page via an Active X control. Also, shared programs now appear in
new windows on your desktop and can be resized or minimized. Netmeeting calls can
now be placed to telephones and videoconferencing systems through the use of gateways
and gatekeepers. Another new feature is Remote Desktop Sharing, which allows you to
access and use one computer from another by sharing the desktop. Many performance
improvements have also been made, including lower bandwidth requirements for faster
performance, support for 24 - bit true color enhanced security, and, or faster multimedia
machines and high - speed networks, Netmeeting can now achieve up to 30-frames-per
second video performance.
