Ξυλόγλυπτο έργο εμπνευσμένο απο την αγροτική ζωή της Κύπρου του προηγούμενου αιώνα. Η καλλιτέχνις Άντρη Παφίτη κατάγεται απο το κατεχόμενο σήμερα χωριό Μαραθόβουνος της Μεσαορίας και τα έργα της αναπαράγουν σκηνές απο την καθημερινή ζωή στο χωριό, όπως τα βίωνε η ίδια πριν την Τουρκική Εισβολή του 1974. Τα είδη ξύλου που χρησιμοποιεί είναι ο κυπριακός πεύκος και η κυπριακή καρυδιά. Το συγκεκριμένο έργο αναπαριστά μια γυναίκα να αλέθει το σιτάρι με τη βοήθεια του χειρόμυλου. Το χειρομύλι αποτελούνταν απο δυο κυκλικές λίθους την μια επάνω στην άλλη και ένα ξύλινο μοχλό για να γυρίζει ο χειριστής την άνω λίθο και να σπάζει το υλικό ανάμεσα στις δυο λίθους. Ο χειριστής έριχνε το σιτάρι ή οποιονδήποτε άλλο σπόρο μέσα απο μια οπή στην άνω κυκλική λίθο και αυτό διασκορπούνταν μέσω της κίνησης και αλεθόταν. Κάτω απο τον χειρόμυλο βρισκόταν τοποθετημένο τμήμα ενός υφάσματος πάνω στο οποίο έπεφτε το αλεσμένο υλικό.
Woodcarving art piece inspired by the agrarian society of Cyprus during the 20th century. Andri Pafiti, the artist, comes from Marathovounos, a now-occupied village in Mesaoria plain and her art pieces reproduce scenes from the every day lives at the village. She uses Cypriot pinewood and walnut trees to create her masterpieces. The specific woodcarving shows a woman using a quern to crush the grain. The quern consists of two circular stones, one on top of the other, and a wooden lever in order the operator to turn the upper stone and smash the product. The product was thrown through a hole and it was scattered via the circular movement. Underneath the quern, there was a piece of cloth to accumulate the smashed product.
