A team representing the Society took part at a special ceremony, which was held at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens in May 2019. During the ceremony, the Antikythera Mechanism was presented by Ioannis Seiradakis, Marianna Efstathiou and Alexandros Tourtas, a few members of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki team investigating the Mechanism. Main speaker was the Director of the National Archaeological Museum, Maria Lagogianni, while also the president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers read his response. The ceremony ended by delivering the plaque declaring the Mechanism as a historic mechanic landmark. Μετά απο δημοσίευση της ομάδας του ΑΠΘ (Μαριάννα Ευσταθίου και Κυριάκος Ευσταθίου) σχετικά με τον Μηχανισμό των Αντικυθήρων στο επιστημονικό περιοδικό του Συλλόγου Μηχανολόγων Μηχανικών, ο οποίος απαριθμεί περισσότερα απο διακόσιες χιλιάδες μέλη, αποφάσισε να ανακηρύξει τον Μηχανισμό ως ιστορικό μηχανολογικό ορόσημο και η αντίστοιχη τελετή έγινε στην Αθήνα τον Μάιο του 2019. Για τον σκοπό αυτό, ήλθε απο τις ΗΠΑ μια ομάδα εκπροσωπώντας τον Οργανισμό και στα πλαίσια της τελετής, η οποία έλαβε χώρα εντός του Εθνικού Αρχαιολογικού Μουσείου, παρουσιάστηκε ο Μηχανισμός απο τα μέλη της ομάδας του ΑΠΘ, Ιωάννη Σειραδάκη, Μαριάννα Ευσταθίου και Αλέξαδρο Τούρτα.
