Αυτό το βιβλίο δεν το έγραψε αυτός που το υπογράφει. Το έγραψαν όλοι όσοι συμμετέχουν σε αυτό, ανεξάρτητα με τις πόσες συμμετοχές και τις πόσες διακρίσεις είχε ο καθένας στη καριέρα του και σε ποιά ομάδα , ανεξάρτητα ηλικίας. Σκοπός δεν είναι να καταγραφεί εδώ αν ο "Α" ποδοσφαιριστής έκανε καλές κεφαλιές, ο "Β" έξυπνα τάκλιν, ο "Γ" έβαζε τρομερά γκολ και ο "Δ" φοβερές αποκρούσεις. Σκοπός είναι να καταγραφούν οι μαρτυρίες όλων για το πως εννοείται η αθλητική ιδέα, η ομαδικότητα, η ανταγωνιστικότητα μέσα στον αγωνιστικό χώρο και συνάμα η συναγωνιστικότητα και φιλία εκτός γηπέδου. Απώτερος σκοπός είναι να ακούσουμε και πάλι τη φράση, "για τη φανέλα", να δούμε νοερά στο γήπεδο το "ευ αγωνίζεσθαι". Όταν στις αλάνες και τα χωράφια της γειτονιάς φύτρωναν άγρια χόρτα και λουλούδια μαζί και ανάμεσα σε αυτά ξεφύτρωναν αστέρια που έμελλε να φωτίσουν με την παρουσία τους το κυπριακό ποδόσφαιρο. Ήταν εκεί οι ανιχνευτές αστεριών, οι ψαράδες ταλέντων να τα περισυλλέξουν να τα αγκαλιάσουν με στοργή να τα πάνε να πετάξουν στο ταξίδι του ονείρου τους, να βρεθούν στο μεγάλο γήπεδο. Μπορεί τα χρόνια να έχουν περάσει, μα, κατά που λέει και ο ποιητής, "είναι σαν να μη πέρασε μια μέρα". Μέσα από το βιβλίο είναι όλοι εκεί, να μυρίσουν το βρεγμένο χώμα του γηπέδου ραντισμένο από τη βαρέλα του δημαρχείου, να παρατηρήσουν τον κάθε φίλαθλο αν είναι στη θέση του, να είναι έτοιμοι από τον προπονητή της κερκίδας να δεχτούν τις εντολές για το πλάνο ανάπτυξης της ομάδας. Μπορεί να πήγαινε νηστικός στο γήπεδο, μπορεί να ήταν καταπονημένος από τη δουλειά που μόλις πριν δέκα λεπτά άφησε, μπορεί να περπατούσε τριάντα μίλια για να μπει στο γήπεδο, μπορεί να πήγαινε ξιπόλητος, ήταν όμως, και αυτό δηλώνει με την εδώ συμμετοχή του, ευτυχισμένος. Η ξιπόλητη ευτυχία στο απόλυτο, αποτυπωμένη και βαθιά ριζωμένη.
