Ο Νεόφυτος Ισιδώρου (Ψωμάς) γεννήθηκε στην Γεροσκήπου το 1905 και απεβίωσε το 1990. Ήταν ένας απο τους Κύπριους που πολέμησαν στον Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο στο πλευρό της Αγγλικής αποικιοκρατικής κυβέρνησης εναντίον του Χίτλερ και του φασισμού. Ο Νεόφυτος πολέμησε στα βουνά της Αλβανίας μεταφέροντας τρόφιμα και πολεμοφόδια πάνω στα γαϊδούρια. Κατά την διάρκεια του Ελληνογερμανικού πολέμου αιχμαλωτίστηκε και μεταφέρθηκε στην Γερμανία. Εκεί, οι Γερμανοί τον μετέφεραν σε ένα στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης, όπου εργαζόταν κάτω από σκληρές συνθήκες. Λόγω της πείνας και της εξαθλίωσης, ο Νεόφυτος έκλεψε πατάτες και κρεμμύδια για να φτιάξει σούπα για αυτον και τους συντρόφους του. Τον ανακάλυψε, όμως, ένας Γερμανός στρατιώτης και ως τιμωρία τον πυροβόλησε στο χέρι με το όπλο με αποτέλεσμα την πρόκληση μόνιμης ζημιάς σε τρία δάκτυλά του. Μετά το πέρας του πολέμου, όσοι στρατιώτες επέζησαν επέστρεψαν στις οικογένειές τους. Ο Νεόφυτος, όμως, δεν επέστρεψε και η μητέρα του θεώρησε ότι είχε πεθάνει στον πόλεμο για αυτό και έκανε μνημόσυνα στην εκκλησία. Μια μέρα, μετά από αρκετό καιρό, ένας συγχωριανός της ανακοινώνει ότι ο γιος της επέστρεψε και βρίσκεται στη πλατεία του χωριού. Η μητέρα του δεν πίστευε όσα άκουσε και έπεσε από τις σκάλες και πήγε γονατιστή στην πλατεία για να τον υποδεχτεί. Ο Νεόφυτος Ισιδώρου επηρεάστηκε απο την συμμετοχή του στον Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και απέκτησε προοδευτικές ιδέες. Ίδρυσε μαζί με άλλους το Συνεργατικό Παντοπωλείο Γεροσκήπου και διαδραμάτισε πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο στην άνοδο του Συνεργατισμού.
Neophytos Isidorou (Psomas) born in Yeroskipou in 1905 and died in 1990. He was one of the Cypriots who participated in the Second World War against the Germany. Neophytos battled in Albania, transporting substance and equipment. During the Battle of Greece, Neophytos was captured and sent to a concentration camp Germany, where worked under bad conditions. Due to this, he stole some potatoes and onions to make soup for him and his fellows. Unfortunately, a German soldier found out about the incident and shot him in his fingers which resulted to a permanent damage. After the end of the war, most soldiers return to their homelands but Neophytos did not, therefore, his mother supposed that he was dead. She even had a memorial service for him. One day, though, he appeared in the village's square and a man informed his mother. She could not believe her ears and went to proof his claims. Neophytos was influenced by the war and adopted liberal ideas. He along with others founded the Cooperative Supermarket of Yeroskipou.
