Τον πίνακα ζωγράφισε ο ζωγράφος Θεόδοτος Κάνθος (1915 – 1998) , αδελφός του γνωστού Κύπριου ζωγράφου Τηλέμαχου Κάνθου. Ο Κάνθος εργάστηκε αρχικά ως δημοδιδάσκαλος. Αργότερα, με υποτροφία του British Council, σπούδασε Ζωγραφική στο ‘Goldsmith’s College of Art’ του Πανεπιστημίου του Λονδίνου. Το 1950 διορίστηκε στο τότε Γραφείο Παιδείας ως «οργρανωτής» του μαθήματος της Τέχνης στα δημοτικά σχολεία, και ταυτόχρονα καθηγητής στο Διδασκαλικό Κολλέγιο Μόρφου. Το 1957 διορίστηκε Επιθεωρητής Τέχνης και στην Μέση Εκπαίδευση, θέση που κατείχε μέχρι την αφυπηρέτηση του το 1975.
