The coating of the temple was restored in 2001, with light colors and gold details at several points. The icons of the temple, all made in bold renaissance features (like almost all the images of the early 20th century) are works of the Cypriot Monks, Niphon and Kyrillos dated 1904. An exception to the above, is the icon of St. Minas on a horseback, painted by Othon Giavopoullos. The residents’ main occupation was agriculture particularly the production of carob, cereals crops, livestock, as well as quarrying and stone gypsopetras (matsarangas) for building works (houses, schools, churches). Lime industry was also one of the main occupations of the inhabitants which led to an increased number of lime quarries and lime kilns in the area. Also, many residents were lumberjacks and supplied the town of Limassol with firewood. For a certain period the bank also collected the crops of carob, almonds, wheat and barley of its members which were later sold to the merchants in the neighbor town of Limassol. It also provided its members with fertilizers, wheat and barley seeds, seed and pesticides and pesticides as well as wheat , barley and potatoes’ seeds. For decades it has been one of the main sponsors and supporters of the local authority as well as the schools and sports and cultural clubs of the area. The mansion of George Sofroniou , one of the secretaries of the company, at the center of the historic core of the community housed the offices of the Bank since its foundation in 1929 until 1977. This traditional building has recently been restored with the support of the Bank, will be used as the Municipal Folklore Museum of Agios Athanasios, and a part of it will be entirely dedicated to “Agios Athanasios Cooperative Savings Bank”. Βοήθησε τα μέλη της σε δύσκολες εποχές αποικιοκρατικής κατοχής και πρωτόγονων κοινωνικοοικονομικών συνθηκών, ειδικά για τα ασθενέστερα οικονομικά στρώματα και κυρίως για τον κόσμο της υπαίθρου, που μαστίζονταν από τη φτώχεια και την τοκογλυφία. Στη διάρκεια του Δευτέρου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου η ΣΠΕ Αγίου Αθανασίου έκανε διανομή με δελτία στην κοινότητα είδη σε τρόφιμα και ρουχισμό, που της παραχωρούσε η Αποικιοκρατική Κυβέρνηση. Επίσης για κάποια χρόνια μέχρι τι δημιουργία άλλων οργανισμών, συγκέντρωναν τις παραγωγές των χαρουπιών, αμυγδάλων, σιταριού και κριθαριού, των μελών τους τα οποία διέθεταν στους εμπόρους της πόλης και παράλληλα προμήθευε λιπάσματα, σπόρους σιταριού και κριθαριού, πατατόσπορου και γεωργικά φάρμακα. Για δεκαετίες υπήρξε οικονομικός αιμοδότης και αρωγός της κοινότητας και μετέπειτα του Δήμου Αγίου Αθανασίου, των σχολείων δημοτικής και μέσης εκπαίδευσης, καθώς και αθλητικών και πολιτιστικών σωματείων, χρηματοδοτώντας ταυτόχρονα πληθώρα εκδηλώσεων τους. Το αρχοντικό Γεωργίου Σοφρωνίου, ο οποίος υπήρξε και Γραμματέας της εταιρείας, στο κέντρο του ιστορικού πυρήνα της κοινότητας που στέγασε τα γραφεία της ΣΠΕ Αγίου Αθανασίου από της ίδρυσής της το 1929 μέχρι και το 1977, θα γίνει μετά την αποκατάσταση του Λαογραφικό Μουσείο και ένας χώρος του θα είναι εξ’ολοκλήρου αφιερωμένος στην ΣΠΕ Αγίου Αθανασίου.
