The building was declared a listed building, it was purchased by the municipality of Agios Athanasios for creating a Folklore Museum and St. Athanasios COOP Museum (first cooperative credit institution that worked). The restoration of the building will be completed until the end of 2014 and all the expenses for restoration will be paid by the Limassol Cooperative Saving Bank. The evidence that were found indicates that all the buildings were built before 1910. It is a monastery whose origins, according to scholars, is from 1574. Previously it was only for men and it was a built of the 17th century. After the renovation and installation of the monks, the monastery is a major attraction of pilgrims. According to tradition, icon of , Panagias Sfalaggiotissas had therapeutic properties of the sting of sfalangiou (kind of small spider), which often run counter deadly to humans. That’s why they gave the adjective name of "Sfalangiotissa." Βρίσκεται πέντε χιλιόμετρα βορείως του Αγίου Αθανασίου. Πρόκειται για ένα μοναστήρι του οποίου οι ρίζες, σύμφωνα με τους μελετητές, υπάρχουν (επίσημα) από το 1574, που σημειώνεται σε ενετικό χάρτη. Παλαιότερα ήταν ανδρικό και χρονολογείται ως κτίσμα του 17ου αιώνα. Έπειτα από την ανακαίνιση και την εγκαταβίωση μοναχών, το μοναστήρι συνιστά βασικό πόλο έλξης προσκυνητών. Σύμφωνα με την παράδοση, η εικόνα της ομώνυμης Παναγίας, είχε θεραπευτικές ιδιότητες από το κέντρισμα του σφαλαγγιού (είδος μικρής αράχνης), που συχνά απέβαινε θανατηφόρο για τον άνθρωπο. Εξ’ ου και ο επιθετικός προσδιορισμός «Σφαλαγγιώτισσα».
