Η ομάδα του Απόλλωνα Λεμεσού αναδείχθηκε πρωταθλήτρια Κύπρου για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της τη ποδοσφαιρική χρονιά 1990-1991. Η αρχή της χρονιάς δεν φάνηκε ευοίωνη, ωστόσο, στη πορεία οι εντυπωσιακές επιδόσεις των κυανολεύκων χάρισαν στιγμές χαράς στους φίλους του σωματείου. Συγκεκριμένα, η ομάδα ξεκίνησε το νέο πρωτάθλημα έχοντας τέσσερις νίκες και τρεις ισοπαλίες στα πρώτα επτά παιχνίδια αλλά ακολούθησε η εκτός έδρας ήττα με 3-0 από την Ανόρθωση, η οποία ήταν και η κυριότερη αντίπαλος στην κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Η συγκεκριμένη ήττα έκανε τους ποδοσφαιριστές και τον νέο προπονητή της ομάδας, Ντίτιλμ Φέρνερ, να πεισμώσουν και να παρουσιαστούν πιο δυνατοί. Συγκεκριμένα, ξεκίνησαν ένα νέο αήττητο σερί με οκτώ νίκες και τρείς ισοπαλίες. Η σημαντικότερη αναμέτρηση διεξήχθη στο Τσίρειο στάδιο στις 10 Μαρτίου 1991, στο πλαίσιο της 20ης αγωνιστικής του πρωταθλήματος, όπου Απόλλωνας και Ανόρθωση μονομάχησαν μέχρι τέλους. Οι κυανόλευκοι της Λεμεσού δεν άφησαν την ευκαιρία να περάσει ανεκμετάλλευτη και επικράτησαν με 3-1, συνεχίζοντας την ανοδική τους πορεία. Στην επόμενη αγωνιστική, η Ομόνοια, παρά τη δυναμικότητά της, αποτέλεσε εύκολο αντίπαλο για τον Απόλλωνα, ο οποίος κέρδισε στον εκτός έδρας αγώνα με 2-0 και έφερε το Λεμεσιανό σωματείο ένα βήμα πιο κοντά στην κατάκτηση του πρώτου πρωταθλήματος στην ιστορία του. Η συνέχεια ήταν ακόμα καλύτερη αφού με την ολοκλήρωση της 22ης αγωνιστικής, ο Απόλλωνας ήταν πλέον πρώτος στο βαθμολογικό πίνακα με 36 βαθμούς έναντι 35 της Ανόρθωσης. Ο Απόλλωνας συνέχισε το νικηφόρο σερί που είχε ξεκινήσει από την 17η αγωνιστική με την εντός έδρας νίκη επί της ΑΠΕΠ με 3-0 και της ΕΠΑ με 5-2, ενώ η «κυρία» σκόνταψε στο «Αντώνης Παπαδόπουλος», αφού είχε αναδειχθεί ισόπαλη χωρίς τέρματα με αντίπαλο τον Ολυμπιακό. Ακολούθησαν, ωστόσο, ακόμα καλύτερα νέα, μιας και με την ολοκλήρωση της 23ης αγωνιστικής, ο Απόλλωνας αποκτούσε ξεκάθαρο προβάδισμα για την κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Συγκεκριμένα, την ώρα που οι κυανόλευκοι της συμπρωτεύουσας κέρδιζαν εκτός έδρας την Ένωση Νέων Παραλιμνίου με 2-0, η Ανόρθωση γνώριζε στο Μακάρειο στάδιο την ήττα με 4-1 από την Ομόνοια. Πλέον, ο δρόμος για το πρώτο πρωτάθλημα στην ιστορία του Απόλλωνα ήταν ορθάνοικτος, αφού, με τρεις αγωνιστικές να απομένουν, η διαφορά που χώριζε τον Απόλλωνα από την ομάδα της Αμμοχώστου ήταν τρεις βαθμοί κι έπρεπε να γίνει ένα θαύμα για να διαφοροποιηθούν τα δεδομένα. Η 24η αγωνιστική δεν επιφύλασσε διαφοροποιήσεις γιατί και οι δύο ομάδες προχώρησαν με νίκες κι έτσι η 25η αποτελούσε σημείο αναφοράς για τους κυανόλευκους της Λεμεσού, αφού με νίκη θα πανηγύριζαν και μαθηματικά την κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Έτσι και έγινε αφού στο τοπικό ντέρμπι με αντίπαλο τη συμπολίτισσα ΑΕΛ, οι ποδοσφαιριστές και η τεχνική ηγεσία έδειξαν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό, επικρατώντας με 2-0, και αναδείχθηκαν με μαθηματικό τρόπο πρωταθλητές Κύπρου για την περίοδο 1990-91. Στον τελευταίο αγώνα της χρονιάς απέναντι στους «ερυθρόλευκους» (11 Μαΐου 1991) ο αγώνας μετατράπηκε σε φιέστα αφού οι οπαδοί στις εξέδρες γιόρταζαν και τραγουδούσαν ώρες πριν την έναρξη του αγώνα. Λίγο πριν την ολοκλήρωση της αναμέτρησης και σε μια διαφορετική εποχή κατά την οποία οι εκδηλώσεις ήταν εντελώς διαφορετικές από αυτές που πραγματοποιούνται σήμερα, ο αγωνιστικός χώρος πλημμύρισε με κόσμο, οι οποίοι με το τελευταίο σφύριγμα του διαιτητή ενώθηκαν με τους ποδοσφαιριστές και το τεχνικό επιτελείο και γιόρτασαν με τη ψυχή τους το πολυπόθητο πρωτάθλημα. Η απονομή πραγματοποιήθηκε από τον Πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας, κ. Γιώργο Βασιλείου, ο οποίος τίμησε με κλάδο ελαίας τους πρωταθλητές. Apollo Limassol managed to claim Cyprus' champion title in 1991, the first time since its establishment in 1954. Initially, the team had not the intended results but, along the way, managed to overturn the bad performance. Specifically, the team achieved four wins and three draws in the first seven games but the game against Anorthosis resulted to a 3-0 defeat of Apollo. This led the coach and the players to work harder and the outcome was a series of eight wins and three draws. However, the most important game was that between again Apollo and Anorthosis, which took place in Tsireio stadium on 10th March 1991. Apollo showed decisiveness and dominated with 3-1 score. On the following round, Omonoia was an easy target for Apollo, who won with 2-0, resulting being the first team (36 points) and Anorthosis the second (35 points) in the ranking. Following that, Apollo continued winning, initially, over APEP with 3-0 and, afterwards, over EPA with 5-2, but the game against Olympiakos resulted to a dew. During the course of 23rd round, became clear that Apollo was taking the lead, following the win against ENP and the defeat of Anorthosis by Omonoia. Specifically, between Apollo and Anorthosis there was a 3 points gap and nothing could overturn the result. During the 24th round there was not any differentiation, given that Apollo and Anorthosis won. Therefore, the 25th round seemed critical as at the next game a win would mean that Apollo was the 1990-1991 champion. This is what actually happened, AEL was defeated by Apollo with 2-0 score and Apollo was appointed champion, before the season's last game. In the last match against Nea Salamis, Apollo fans were celebrating hours before the game started. As soon as the referee whistled, Apollo fans entered the field, blended with the players and celebrated the first championship in the history of Apollo football club. The trophy ceremony was held by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Giorgos Vasileioy, who bestowed the winners with an olive branch. Ο Απόλλωνας συνέχισε το νικηφόρο σερί που είχε ξεκινήσει από την 17η αγωνιστική με την εντός έδρας νίκη επί της ΑΠΕΠ με 3-0 και της ΕΠΑ με 5-2, ενώ η «κυρία» σκόνταψε στο «Αντώνης Παπαδόπουλος», αφού είχε αναδειχθεί ισόπαλη χωρίς τέρματα με αντίπαλο τον Ολυμπιακό. Ακολούθησαν, ωστόσο, ακόμα καλύτερα νέα, μιας και με την ολοκλήρωση της 23ης αγωνιστικής, ο Απόλλωνας αποκτούσε ξεκάθαρο προβάδισμα για την κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Συγκεκριμένα, την ώρα που οι κυανόλευκοι της συμπρωτεύουσας κέρδιζαν εκτός έδρας την Ένωση Νέων Παραλιμνίου με 2-0, η Ανόρθωση γνώριζε στο Μακάρειο στάδιο την ήττα με 4-1 από την Ομόνοια. Πλέον, ο δρόμος για το πρώτο πρωτάθλημα στην ιστορία του Απόλλωνα ήταν ορθάνοικτος, αφού, με τρεις αγωνιστικές να απομένουν, η διαφορά που χώριζε τον Απόλλωνα από την ομάδα της Αμμοχώστου ήταν τρεις βαθμοί κι έπρεπε να γίνει ένα θαύμα για να διαφοροποιηθούν τα δεδομένα. Η 24η αγωνιστική δεν επιφύλασσε διαφοροποιήσεις γιατί και οι δύο ομάδες προχώρησαν με νίκες κι έτσι η 25η αποτελούσε σημείο αναφοράς για τους κυανόλευκους της Λεμεσού, αφού με νίκη θα πανηγύριζαν και μαθηματικά την κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Έτσι και έγινε αφού στο τοπικό ντέρμπι με αντίπαλο τη συμπολίτισσα ΑΕΛ, οι ποδοσφαιριστές και η τεχνική ηγεσία έδειξαν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό, επικρατώντας με 2-0, και αναδείχθηκαν με μαθηματικό τρόπο πρωταθλητές Κύπρου για την περίοδο 1990-91. Στον τελευταίο αγώνα της χρονιάς απέναντι στους «ερυθρόλευκους» (11 Μαΐου 1991) ο αγώνας μετατράπηκε σε φιέστα αφού οι οπαδοί στις εξέδρες γιόρταζαν και τραγουδούσαν ώρες πριν την έναρξη του αγώνα. Λίγο πριν την ολοκλήρωση της αναμέτρησης και σε μια διαφορετική εποχή κατά την οποία οι εκδηλώσεις ήταν εντελώς διαφορετικές από αυτές που πραγματοποιούνται σήμερα, ο αγωνιστικός χώρος πλημμύρισε με κόσμο, οι οποίοι με το τελευταίο σφύριγμα του διαιτητή ενώθηκαν με τους ποδοσφαιριστές και το τεχνικό επιτελείο και γιόρτασαν με τη ψυχή τους το πολυπόθητο πρωτάθλημα. Η απονομή πραγματοποιήθηκε από τον Πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας, κ. Γιώργο Βασιλείου, ο οποίος τίμησε με κλάδο ελαίας τους πρωταθλητές. Apollo Limassol managed to claim Cyprus' champion title in 1991, the first time since its establishment in 1954. Initially, the team had not the intended results but, along the way, managed to overturn the bad performance. Specifically, the team achieved four wins and three draws in the first seven games but the game against Anorthosis resulted to a 3-0 defeat of Apollo. This led the coach and the players to work harder and the outcome was a series of eight wins and three draws. However, the most important game was that between again Apollo and Anorthosis, which took place in Tsireio stadium on 10th March 1991. Apollo showed decisiveness and dominated with 3-1 score. On the following round, Omonoia was an easy target for Apollo, who won with 2-0, resulting being the first team (36 points) and Anorthosis the second (35 points) in the ranking. Following that, Apollo continued winning, initially, over APEP with 3-0 and, afterwards, over EPA with 5-2, but the game against Olympiakos resulted to a dew. During the course of 23rd round, became clear that Apollo was taking the lead, following the win against ENP and the defeat of Anorthosis by Omonoia. Specifically, between Apollo and Anorthosis there was a 3 points gap and nothing could overturn the result. During the 24th round there was not any differentiation, given that Apollo and Anorthosis won. Therefore, the 25th round seemed critical as at the next game a win would mean that Apollo was the 1990-1991 champion. This is what actually happened, AEL was defeated by Apollo with 2-0 score and Apollo was appointed champion, before the season's last game. In the last match against Nea Salamis, Apollo fans were celebrating hours before the game started. As soon as the referee whistled, Apollo fans entered the field, blended with the players and celebrated the first championship in the history of Apollo football club. The trophy ceremony was held by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Giorgos Vasileioy, who bestowed the winners with an olive branch. Η πορεία του Απόλλωνα στο Κύπελλο Κύπρου τη ποδοσφαιρική χρονιά 1985-1986 δεν μπορούσε να χαρακτηριστεί ως μια απο τις καλύτερες στην ιστορία του. Ωστόσο, η παρουσία του στον τελικό κυπέλλου πείσμωσε τους ποδοσφαιριστές και τους έκανε να δώσουν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό. Ο τελικός διεξήχθη στο Τσίρειο στάδιο στις 23 Ιουνίου 1986 απέναντι στον Πρωταθλητή Αποέλ. Το τελικό σκορ ήταν 2-0 υπέρ του Απόλλωνα. Στο 57ο λεπτό, ο Γ. Γιαγκουδάκης κέρδισε πέναλτι, το οποίο εκτελέστηκε απο τον Κένι, διαφοροποιώντας το σκορ στο 1-0. Στο 64ο λεπτό, ο Σωκράτους πετυχαίνει το δεύτερο και νικητήριο γκολ του αγώνα, δίνοντας τη χαρά στους οπαδούς του Απόλλωνα να πανηγυρίσουν το τρίτο κύπελο της ομάδας τους μετά απο 19 χρόνια. Οι παίκτες του Απόλλωνα ήταν οι Κονιώτης, Πιερής, Πίττας, Αντρελλής, Γιαγκουδάκης, Σωκράτους (88’ Σταύρος), Κένι, Χριστοδούλου (81’ Εφραίμ), Ιωάννου και Τέμπλαρ. Τεχνικός ηγέτης της ομάδας ήταν ο Γιόζεφ Ζάτινα.
During the 1985-1986 football year, Apollo did not show its great potentials until the last match against APOEL. The final game was conducted at Tsirio stadium on June 23rd 1986. The final score was 2-0 in favour of Apollo, winning its third Cup in its history. At the 57th minute, G. Giagkoudakis was awarded a penalty which was executed by Keny, leading to 1-0 score. At the 64th minute Sokratous achieves the second and final goal. Apollo's team was consisted of Koniotis, Pieris, Pittas, Antrellis, Giagkoudakis, Sokratous (88' Stavros), Keny, Christodoulou (81' Efraim), Ioannou and Templar under the directoriship of Joseph Zatina.

Απεικονίζεται ο Γιαννάκης Γιαγκουδάκης στους ώμους των φιλάθλων. Η ομάδα του Απόλλωνα Λεμεσού αναδείχθηκε πρωταθλήτρια Κύπρου για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία της τη ποδοσφαιρική χρονιά 1990-1991. Η αρχή της χρονιάς δεν φάνηκε ευοίωνη, ωστόσο, στη πορεία οι εντυπωσιακές επιδόσεις των κυανολεύκων χάρισαν στιγμές χαράς στους φίλους του σωματείου. Συγκεκριμένα, η ομάδα ξεκίνησε το νέο πρωτάθλημα έχοντας τέσσερις νίκες και τρεις ισοπαλίες στα πρώτα επτά παιχνίδια αλλά ακολούθησε η εκτός έδρας ήττα με 3-0 από την Ανόρθωση, η οποία ήταν και η κυριότερη αντίπαλος στην κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Η συγκεκριμένη ήττα έκανε τους ποδοσφαιριστές και τον νέο προπονητή της ομάδας, Ντίτιλμ Φέρνερ, να πεισμώσουν και να παρουσιαστούν πιο δυνατοί. Συγκεκριμένα, ξεκίνησαν ένα νέο αήττητο σερί με οκτώ νίκες και τρείς ισοπαλίες. Η σημαντικότερη αναμέτρηση διεξήχθη στο Τσίρειο στάδιο στις 10 Μαρτίου 1991, στο πλαίσιο της 20ης αγωνιστικής του πρωταθλήματος, όπου Απόλλωνας και Ανόρθωση μονομάχησαν μέχρι τέλους. Οι κυανόλευκοι της Λεμεσού δεν άφησαν την ευκαιρία να περάσει ανεκμετάλλευτη και επικράτησαν με 3-1, συνεχίζοντας την ανοδική τους πορεία. Στην επόμενη αγωνιστική, η Ομόνοια, παρά τη δυναμικότητά της, αποτέλεσε εύκολο αντίπαλο για τον Απόλλωνα, ο οποίος κέρδισε στον εκτός έδρας αγώνα με 2-0 και έφερε το Λεμεσιανό σωματείο ένα βήμα πιο κοντά στην κατάκτηση του πρώτου πρωταθλήματος στην ιστορία του. Η συνέχεια ήταν ακόμα καλύτερη αφού με την ολοκλήρωση της 22ης αγωνιστικής, ο Απόλλωνας ήταν πλέον πρώτος στο βαθμολογικό πίνακα με 36 βαθμούς έναντι 35 της Ανόρθωσης. Πλέον, ο δρόμος για το πρώτο πρωτάθλημα στην ιστορία του Απόλλωνα ήταν ορθάνοικτος, αφού, με τρεις αγωνιστικές να απομένουν, η διαφορά που χώριζε τον Απόλλωνα από την ομάδα της Αμμοχώστου ήταν τρεις βαθμοί κι έπρεπε να γίνει ένα θαύμα για να διαφοροποιηθούν τα δεδομένα. Η 24η αγωνιστική δεν επιφύλασσε διαφοροποιήσεις γιατί και οι δύο ομάδες προχώρησαν με νίκες κι έτσι η 25η αποτελούσε σημείο αναφοράς για τους κυανόλευκους της Λεμεσού, αφού με νίκη θα πανηγύριζαν και μαθηματικά την κατάκτηση του τίτλου. Έτσι και έγινε αφού στο τοπικό ντέρμπι με αντίπαλο τη συμπολίτισσα ΑΕΛ, οι ποδοσφαιριστές και η τεχνική ηγεσία έδειξαν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό, επικρατώντας με 2-0, και αναδείχθηκαν με μαθηματικό τρόπο πρωταθλητές Κύπρου για την περίοδο 1990-91. Στον τελευταίο αγώνα της χρονιάς απέναντι στους «ερυθρόλευκους» (11 Μαΐου 1991) ο αγώνας μετατράπηκε σε φιέστα αφού οι οπαδοί στις εξέδρες γιόρταζαν και τραγουδούσαν ώρες πριν την έναρξη του αγώνα. Λίγο πριν την ολοκλήρωση της αναμέτρησης και σε μια διαφορετική εποχή κατά την οποία οι εκδηλώσεις ήταν εντελώς διαφορετικές από αυτές που πραγματοποιούνται σήμερα, ο αγωνιστικός χώρος πλημμύρισε με κόσμο, οι οποίοι με το τελευταίο σφύριγμα του διαιτητή ενώθηκαν με τους ποδοσφαιριστές και το τεχνικό επιτελείο και γιόρτασαν με τη ψυχή τους το πολυπόθητο πρωτάθλημα. Η απονομή πραγματοποιήθηκε από τον Πρόεδρο της Δημοκρατίας, κ. Γιώργο Βασιλείου, ο οποίος τίμησε με κλάδο ελαίας τους πρωταθλητές. Giannakis Giagkoudakis is discerned among Apollo's fans. Apollo Limassol managed to claim Cyprus' champion title in 1991, the first time since its establishment in 1954. Initially, the team had not the intended results but, along the way, managed to overturn the bad performance. Specifically, the team achieved four wins and three draws in the first seven games but the game against Anorthosis resulted to a 3-0 defeat of Apollo. This led the coach and the players to work harder and the outcome was a series of eight wins and three draws. However, the most important game was that between again Apollo and Anorthosis, which took place in Tsireio stadium on 10th March 1991. Apollo showed decisiveness and dominated with 3-1 score. On the following round, Omonoia was an easy target for Apollo, who won with 2-0, resulting being the first team (36 points) and Anorthosis the second (35 points) in the ranking. Following that, Apollo continued winning, initially, over APEP with 3-0 and, afterwards, over EPA with 5-2, but the game against Olympiakos resulted to a dew. During the course of 23rd round, became clear that Apollo was taking the lead, following the win against ENP and the defeat of Anorthosis by Omonoia. Specifically, between Apollo and Anorthosis there was a 3 points gap and nothing could overturn the result. During the 24th round there was not any differentiation, given that Apollo and Anorthosis won. Therefore, the 25th round seemed critical as at the next game a win would mean that Apollo was the 1990-1991 champion. This is what actually happened, AEL was defeated by Apollo with 2-0 score and Apollo was appointed champion, before the season's last game. In the last match against Nea Salamis, Apollo fans were celebrating hours before the game started. As soon as the referee whistled, Apollo fans entered the field, blended with the players and celebrated the first championship in the history of Apollo football club. The trophy ceremony was held by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Giorgos Vasileioy, who bestowed the winners with an olive branch.
