Σπούδασε ζωγραφική σε Γαλλική σχολή. Την μέρα κρατούσε το νοικοκυριό, φρόντιζε την άλλη της κόρη και τον σύζυγό της, και το βράδυ μέχρι της πρωινές ώρες μελετούσε. Όταν παντρεύτηκε και εγκαταστάθηκε στην Αμμόχωστο συμμετείχε μαζί με άλλους ζωγράφους-μέλη του ΕΚΑΤΕ (μεταξύ των οποίων και ο γνωστός Αμμοχωστιανός ζωγράφος Γιώργος Σκοτεινός) σε διάφορες ομαδικές εκθέσεις. Μετά την Τουρκική εισβολή, όταν η οικογένεια εγκαταστάθηκε στις ελεύθερες περιοχές, η Νίκη Σιακαλλή συνέχισε να ζωγραφίζει και δημιούργησε το δικό της ατελιέ στο σπίτι της. Έλαβε μέρος σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις ζωγράφων-μέλών του συνδέσμου ΣΚΑΛΑ (Σύνδεσμος Καλλιτεχνών Λάρνακας) στην Λάρνακα και συνεχίζει μέχρι και σήμερα να ενημερώνεται για τα καλλιτεχνικά δρώμενα.
Niki studied painting at a French school. She participated in various group exhibitions in Ammochostos and Larnaca and continues until today to paint and keep herself up to date with the latest trends on the field of painting.

Το 1992 η δημοσιογράφος Αστέρω Μενοίκου πήρε συνέντευξη από τον Δημήτρη Αλεξιάδη, έναν Σμυρνιό που κατοικούσε στην Λάρνακα. Στο ρεπορτάζ αυτό ο Δημήτρης Αλεξιάδης, γυρίζει το χρόνο πίσω όπου μέχρι τα 12 του χρόνια ζούσε στην Σμύρνη (πριν την Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή). Το ρεπορτάζ δημοσιεύτηκε στο κυπριακό περιοδικό <Το περιοδικό> που ανήκε στον όμιλο που εκδίδει και την εφημερίδα <Σημερινή>.
"Στην Σμύρνη υπήρχαν ωραία κτίρια, μόνο στο παραλέλι (την παραλία). Εκεί ήταν οι πρεσβείες, τα προξενεία, τα ξενοδοχεία και τα τρία μεγάλα καφενεία. Ένα από αυτά ήταν το καφενείο <Ποσειδών>, όπου πήγαινε συχνά ο πατέρας μου και έπαιζε μπιλιάρδο. Στη Σμύρνη εκτός από ΄Ελληνες, υπήρχαν Εβραίοι, Αρμένιοι, Τούρκοι και πολλές άλλες φυλές. Εκείνα τα χρόνια ήταν μεγάλη η φτώχεια. Το <ψούνος> (η αγορά) ήταν με το μετελίκκι (τούρκικο χρήμα), με μερικά από αυτά πήγαινες στην αγορά, έπαιρνες ένα σωρό πράγματα και έφερνες και ρέστα. Το κύριο συγκοινωνιακό μέσο ήταν το ποδήλατο αλλά στη Σμύρνη υπήρχαν και γκαμήλες, τις οποίες χρησιμοποιούσαν για να μεταφέρουν διάφορα φορτία και <αραμπάδες> (αμάξια). Επίσης στη Σμύρνη υπήρχαν τρία-τέσσερα παντελονάδικα. Ο πατέρας μου ήταν ο καλύτερος παντελονάς της Σμύρνης. "Όταν ήμουν 9-10 χρονών, πήγαινα σε Εβραϊκά και Τούρκικα καταστήματα έπαιρνα τα υφάσματα, τα φόρτωνα στον ώμο μου, τα έπαιρνα στο σπίτι και τα ράβαμε. Θυμάμαι ότι ράβαμε έξι-εφτά παντελόνια την ημέρα. Επειδή ήταν πολλή δουλειά, είχαμε μαζί μας τέσσερα-πέντε κορίτσια που μας βοηθούσαν. Ήταν μεγάλη η φτώχεια, γι' αυτό εργάζονταν και οι γυναίκες. Καθημερινά περνούσαν από το σπίτι μας νεαρά κορίτσια που πήγαιναν στη συλλογή των σύκων. Τα σύκα τα παστά τότε τα έλιωναν με τα πόδια. Εγώ και ο πατέρας μου σηκωνόμασταν νύκτα για να ετοιμάσουμε την δουλειά για τα κορίτσια. Τις χειμωνιάτικες νύκτες περνούσε από το σπίτι μας ο σαλεψής με τον μπόγο του στον ώμο και φώναζε <σαλέπι>. Το σαλέπι ήταν ένα ζεστό ρόφημα, το οποίο έπινες με ζάχαρη και κανέλα. Πίναμε λοιπόν απ΄ αυτό το ρόφημα και ζεσταινόμασταν. Πριν την Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή, ήμασταν αγαπημένοι με τους Τούρκους. Οι φασαρίες άρχισαν το 1921-22. Ο ελληνικός στρατός αναγκαζόταν να οπισθοχωρήσει, διότι οι Αγλογάλλοι έδιναν πολεμοφόδια στους Τούρκους. Από τους στρατιωτικούς θυμάμαι τον Πλαστήρα, τον Παπάγο και τον Κονδύλη."
"Όταν κάηκε ολόκληρη η Σμύρνη από τις φωτιές, χιλιάδες οικογένειες πήγαν στην παραλία της Σμύρνης. Οι Τούρκοι που γνώριζαν ποιές ήταν οι πλούσιες οικογένειες, πήγαιναν και τους έπαιρναν τα χρήματα. Κανένας δεν μπορούσε να μιλήσει ή να διαμαρτυρηθεί. Οι Τούρκοι δεν σκότωναν τον άμαχο πληθυσμό, όμως, όπως σε κάθε πόλεμο υπάρχουν λαβωμένοι, σκοτωμένοι και ζημιές. Όλοι οι πρόσφυγες κατάφεραν να γλιτώσουν την ζωή τους χάρη σε τρία μεγάλα αμερικανικά βαπόρια που πήγαν ειδικά γι' αυτόν τον σκοπό στην Σμύρνη. Όταν φύγαμε από την Σμύρνη, πήγα με την οικογένειά μου σε μια μεγάλη πολιτεία, στο Κορδελιό, απέναντι από την Σμύρνη. Εκεί τα πράγματα ήταν πιο ήσυχα. Η γιαγιά μου είχε δύο σπίτια στην παραλία, κι αφού δεν είχαμε που αλλού να πάμε, μείναμε εκεί. Μια νύκτα θυμάμαι, ήρθαν Τούρκοι στο δεύτερο πάτωμα και πήραν τις κοπέλες και τις έφεραν το πρωί. Πέρασαν πολλές βδομάδες εκεί οπόταν μια μέρα ενώ ήμουν μαζί με τον πατέρα μου και ψάχναμε για δουλειά, μας σταμάτησαν οι Τούρκοι. Ο πατέρας μου ήταν τότε περίπου 40 χρονών. Του ζήτησαν τα χαρτιά του, δεν είχε όμως, γιατί ήταν ραγιάς. Τον πήραν τότε και τον έβαλαν σε μια αποθήκη μαζί με άλλους νέους και από τότε δεν τον ξανάδαμε. Μετά πήγαμε στην Μυτιλήνη, δεν μας δέχτηκαν, όμως, και έτσι πήγαμε στην Χίο. Για αρκετό καιρό κοιμόμασταν στους δρόμους της Χίου. Σιγά-σιγά η κυβέρνηση προθυμοποιήθηκε να μας βοηθήσει. ΄Ηταν Οκτώβρης και άρχισε το κρύο και οι βροχές. Μας βάλανε σε αποθήκες και μας έδιναν συσσίτιο. Μετά την Χίο πήγαμε στην Ελευσίνα, ένα μέρος του Πειραιά. Και εκεί μείναμε για αρκετό καιρό στους δρόμους. Εγώ μαζί με πολλές άλλες οικογένειες, βρήκαμε καταφύγιο στην εκκλησία του ΄Αι Νικόλα. Στο μεταξύ, ένας πλούσιος θείος μου στην Αίγυπτο, πληροφορήθηκε τα νέα μας και μας πλήρωσε τα εισιτήρια για να πάμε κοντά του. ΄Όταν φτάσαμε στην Αίγυπτο, μας έβαλαν καραντίνα μήπως και ήμασταν άρρωστοι. Ο θείος μου όμως επειδή 'είχε τα μέσα' κατάφερε και μας έβγαλε απ' εκεί. Εμένα με έβαλε στο σχολείο αλλά επειδή ήμουν 13 χρονών και ήμουν ψηλός, τα άλλα τα παιδιά με φώναζαν 'μπαμπά'. Εγώ τότε θύμωσα και του είπα ότι δεν ήθελα να μάθω γράμματα. Επειδή λοιπόν μου άρεσε η ζαχαροπλαστική, έγινα ζαχαροπλάστης, ένα επάγγελμα που συνεχίζει σήμερα και ο γιός μου."
Στην συνέντευξη παρευρισκόταν και ο γιός του γέρο-Δημήτρη, Ηλίας, ο οποίος μας είπε ότι πάντα ο πατέρας του θυμάται την Σμύρνη. "Όταν ήμασταν μικροί, είπε, ο μόνος λόγος και η μόνη έγνοια του πατέρα μου ήταν η Σμύρνη. Μας έλεγε τόσα πολλά, που μας <μπόλιασε> μ' εκείνη την ιδέα. Είμαστε τόσο <μπολιασμένοι>τώρα, που αν χρειαστεί θα πάμε στην πρώτη γραμμή να πεθάνουμε, απλώς για να γραφτεί ότι εμείς είμαστε η τρίτη γενεά της Σμύρνης που πολεμήσαμε. Το βασικότερο, όμως, για μας είναι ότι δεν πρέπει ποτέ να ξεχνάμε τις ρίζες μας και να παραδίνουμε την ίδια σκυτάλη στις επόμενες γενιές."
