In Limassol 45 carriages once existed, each one of them holding a specific location in town. During the 1950s, due to the technology advances, cars started appearing in the streets of Limassol and, in turn, carriages were displaced. Eventually the Municipality reimbursed the coach drivers with an amount of 80 pounds to withdraw their carriages. The certificate was issued in 1959, when Cyprus was still under the British administration. The British Government of Cyprus considered issuing this certificate due to the ever-increasing appearance of businesses during that period. An interesting fact regarding the certificate is that the officer pointed out to Dimitrakis Georgiou that he should put it somewhere that can be easily viewed for any random inspection.
