Οικονόμος Δοσίθεος Λίγα χρόνια πριν την ελληνική επανάσταση εναντίον των Τούρκων το 1821, οικονόμος στη Μονή Τιμίου Σταυρού Ομόδους ήταν ο Δοσίθεος. Ένας κληρικός με γενναία καρδιά και πολλές αρετές, έξυπνα είχε φιλία μα τον Κιουτσούκ Μεχμέτ, τότε διοικητή της Κύπρου, στον οποίο έπαιρνε συχνά δώρα από το θησαυροφυλάκιο του Τιμίου Σταυρού, με μόνο σκοπό να πετυχαίνει κάποια εξυπηρέτηση για τους συγχωριανούς και συντοπίτες του. Τέτοιες εξυπηρετήσεις κατάφερνε να έχει συχνά, για τούτο οι κάτοικοι της περιοχής ολόκληρης τον αγαπούσαν πολύ και τον θεωρούσαν σαν σωτήρα και μεγάλο προστάτη τους. Τα πράγματα προχωρούσαν κανονικά μέχρι που έφτασε η μεγάλη ώρα της επανάστασης των Ελλήνων ενάντια στην Οθωμανική αυτοκρατορία. Εκείνο το ξεσήκωμα του ελληνισμού, ακριβά έμελλε να το πληρώσει και η Κύπρος. Τη σημαδιακή μέρα της 9 ης Ιουλίου 1821 κρέμασαν τον αρχιεπίσκοπο Κυπριανό και έσφαξαν του Δεσποτάδες. Μεταξύ των κληρικών που πέσανε θύματα της τότε τουρκικής θηριωδίας ήταν και ο οικονόμος της Μονής Τιμίου Σταυρού Ομόδους γέροντας τότε, Δοσίθεος.
