Φώτης Φωτίου, απευθύνει χαιρετισμό εκ μέρους του Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας, κ. Νίκου Αναστασιάδη. Ο Ιωσήφ και Αντώνης Παπάς διέμεναν στον Κορμακίτη. Στις 20 Ιουλίου 1974 είχαν μεταβεί στη Λευκωσία για οικογενειακούς λόγους. Κατά την επιστροφή τους στο χωριό και φθάνοντας στο χωριό Κοντεμένος ενώθηκαν με φάλαγγα οχημάτων της Εθνικής Φρουράς. Τα οχήματα βομβαρδίστηκαν από τουρκικά αεροσκάφη. Από τα τουρκικά πυρά κτυπήθηκε και το αυτοκίνητο που μετέφερε τον πατέρα και τον γιο, με αποτέλεσμα να χάσουν και οι δύο τη ζωή τους. Μετά την απομάκρυνση των αεροπλάνων, κάτοικοι του Κοντεμένου έθαψαν τους νεκρούς σε τρία σημεία, σε κρατήρες που είχαν σχηματιστεί από τις βόμβες. Παρά τις πληροφορίες, τα συνεργεία εκταφών δεν μπορούσαν να πλησιάσουν για το λόγο ότι τα σημεία ταφής βρίσκονταν μέσα σε στρατιωτικές ζώνες. Τελικά, το 2013 επετράπη η εκσκαφή του ενός σημείου ταφής, όπου εντοπίστηκαν τα λείψανα τους. Ο Ιωσήφ και Αντώνης Παπάς διέμεναν στον Κορμακίτη. Στις 20 Ιουλίου 1974 είχαν μεταβεί στη Λευκωσία για οικογενειακούς λόγους. Κατά την επιστροφή τους στο χωριό και φθάνοντας στο χωριό Κοντεμένος ενώθηκαν με φάλαγγα οχημάτων της Εθνικής Φρουράς. Τα οχήματα βομβαρδίστηκαν από τουρκικά αεροσκάφη. Από τα τουρκικά πυρά κτυπήθηκε και το αυτοκίνητο που μετέφερε τον πατέρα και τον γιο, με αποτέλεσμα να χάσουν και οι δύο τη ζωή τους. Μετά την απομάκρυνση των αεροπλάνων, κάτοικοι του Κοντεμένου έθαψαν τους νεκρούς σε τρία σημεία, σε κρατήρες που είχαν σχηματιστεί από τις βόμβες. Παρά τις πληροφορίες, τα συνεργεία εκταφών δεν μπορούσαν να πλησιάσουν για το λόγο ότι τα σημεία ταφής βρίσκονταν μέσα σε στρατιωτικές ζώνες. Τελικά, το 2013 επετράπη η εκσκαφή του ενός σημείου ταφής, όπου εντοπίστηκαν τα λείψανα τους. Ακολούθησαν ανθρωπολογικές εξετάσεις και εξετάσεις DNA και η παράδοση τους στους οικείους τους για την κηδεία και την ταφή τους.
