In April 1483 Felix Faber, a Dominican monk arrived in Cyprus. Regarding cats he wrote: "The mouse catcher has good hearing and better smell but best of all is his sight which can pierce the shades of night hence he is called cat: for cattus means cunning and the ancients thought that cats were akin to the Genii or Lares, saying that Genii though unseen by men could not remain invisible to cats.
The Lares were said to be the sons of Mercury and the nymth Lar. They lived in the home of men and guarded them, their seat being in the common hall near the fire, and because cats have flashing eyes and like to lie near the fire, they said they were kin to the Genii or Lares"".

An account of the resource
On Demosthenis Severis Avenue there stands a cenotaph in memory of all those Cypriots who fell during the 2nd World War. Their names and burial locations are listed from far apart countries and locations such as France, Greece, Egypt and El-Alamein. It makes reference to 35,000 Cypriots who had taken part in the war for freedom. The monument was unveiled by President Glafcos Clerides who himself had flown with the Royal Air Force and taken prisoner of war. At the time the British Colonial Government enjoined the population to enlist in the British Army and thus fight for Greece and their own freedom. That promise however was no more than empty words blown away by the winds of change. 20,000 fought the Axis powers in France and Egypt and some 5,000 volunteers fought in Greece during its occupation by the Nazi forces. Between 1941-1944, 2,000 of the volunteers were taken prisoners. Many others were executed. The Greek Government of King George II, in Cairo, had already by 1942/3 brought up the question of Northern Epirus and Cyprus. The British Government at the time answered that both questions were to be discussed after the war. In 2001, Greek Cypriot veterans of the 2nd World War took part for the first time in the Military Parade in Thessloniki during the Sunday celebrations commemorating October 28th National Day.

From the 9.5% who expressed no entertainment whatsoever prior to the invasion, the figure rose to over 63% after the invasion. And even when the ability existed either economically or otherwise, again more than 41% expressed no desire for entertainment. The lack of a spiritual mood, the intense presence of weariness and boredom create consequences not only to other members of the family but also to society in general.

An account of the resource
The Orthodox world with its strong ties to Hellenism, in contrast to the rest of Christianity, believes that the greatest of Christian holidays is that of Easter and not Christmas. The birth of Christ is the greatest happy event whereas the crucifixion and Christ's death are the greatest tragedy. And it would have been catastrophic if the resurrection had not followed this momentous event. The preparations for each holiday are different. In the case of Christmas they are commercial and happy with songs, carols, gifts, and sweets. Whereas for Easter they are more spiritual with the forty days of fasting, the Holy Week and the abundance of Christian customs that go with it. The daily participation of the faithful in the religious rites, that differ completely from all others in so far as the flock is involved, culminates with Easter Sunday, the most important day when Christ's and the believers’ victory over death is celebrated.

Moths are classified as insects and belong to the order of Lepidoptera. Insects are the largest class in the Animal Kingdom and some one million of them have been described to date. They (the insects) represent at least three- quarters of all living organisms. Moths are nocturnal insects and are apt to scorch themselves by fluttering around a light source. The stunningly colored mosaic patterned wings of moths and butterflies often help them to remain camouflaged, especially when these blend into their surroundings.
